Welcome to Chungcheongnam-do, a province located in the central-western part of South Korea. This is the sixth edition of the project.
The selected destinations within Chungcheongnam-do are as follows:
- Anmyeon-do Flower Beach, Taean: Known for its beautiful beach and the vibrant flowers that bloom along its coastline, Anmyeon-do Flower Beach offers a picturesque setting with its expansive sandy shore and breathtaking sunsets. This marks the sixth consecutive year that it has been chosen as a top destination.
- Daecheon Beach, Boryeong: Daecheon Beach is a popular attraction known for its vast sandy shoreline and various beach activities. It has been selected as part of the Top 100 Tourist Spots in Korea for four consecutive years.
- Baekje Cultural Heritage in Gongju: Explore the rich history of the Baekje Kingdom at Gongju’s Baekje Cultural Heritage sites, including Gongju Fortress (Gongsanseong) and the royal tombs of King Muryeong and Songsan-ri. These sites have been chosen five times as part of the top tourist spots in Korea.
- Baekje Cultural Heritage in Buyeo: Discover the historical significance of Buyeo, another important city of the ancient Baekje Kingdom. Explore the remains of Busosanseong Fortress and Gungnamji Pond, which have been selected as part of the top tourist spots in Korea for five consecutive years.
- Seosan Haemi Fortress: Seosan Haemi Fortress offers a glimpse into the region’s history and showcases the architectural achievements of ancient Korea. It has been chosen three times as part of the top tourist spots in Korea.
- Sudeoksa Temple, Yesan: Sudeoksa Temple, founded during the Baekje period, is one of the four major temples in Chungcheongnam-do. With its historical significance and preservation of cultural relics, including the wooden Maitreya Buddha statue, it has been recognized as a top destination for the first time.
