Deogyusan Natural Recreation Forest
Deogyusan Natural Recreation Forest, known as 덕유산 자연휴양림 in Korean, is an alluring national forest campground renowned for its dense deciduous pine forest. Nestled in the southern part of the famous Deogyusan National Park, this stunning locale is more than just a camping site. It’s a gateway to the natural wonders of South Korea, offering a unique blend of relaxation and adventure.
Experience the Natural Splendor
Originally established as a forest training center in 1991, it was transformed into a recreation forest in 1993. The landscape is breathtaking, featuring waterfalls, valleys, lush pine and deciduous forests. Over 150 towering Hemlock pines, some over 70 years old, reach for the sky along the forest’s perimeter. A spacious walking path runs along both sides of the valley, offering a scenic route for a leisurely stroll or a mountain bike ride.
Camp Amidst the Trees
The camping site is positioned deep within the forest, beyond the Forest Culture Recreation Center, the grassy lawn, and the accommodation building. Here, 28 decks are tucked away amidst the dense deciduous pine forest. The site is well-equipped with hot water showers and washing stands. A small valley stream runs in front of the camping site, adding a refreshing touch and offering a delightful playground for children. Although crossing the valley to park and unload luggage can be a bit inconvenient, the tranquility and minimal artificial structures make this camping site highly popular.
